Cruise Class Necklace
By Victoria Lane

This lovely necklace was created out of an eggshell, Peacock Foil, Shimmer paper and was embellished with a mat jet crystal, gold plated 1mm faceted bead chain and Swarovski crystals AB.

To make your own necklace you will need Peacock Foil and Shimmer Paper. You can order those from me

Instructions:

1. Begin by cutting the eggshell in the shape you choose. The eggshell can be any piece that you have as a leftover from any project or you can use any eggshell piece.

2. Once the piece is cut, apply a thin coat of Crystaline Sheen glue (available from me or Janie Blair of La Petite Décor (858 268-4104), spread it over the eggshell with a stir stick and once it gets tacky, apply the Peacock Foil to it. You might want to pre-cut the foil before you apply it to the eggshell. Press gently on it to make sure it is all glued to the shell. Apply a thin coat of Crystaline Sheen on top of the foil. Wait until it gets tacky and apply the Shimmer paper. Keep pressing gently on it until it is firmly attached.

3. Apply a coat of CS on top of it and repeat as many times as you wish although 2-3 coats are sufficient.

4. Glue the finding to the top (the one used to hang a chain from it). You can get those from The Golden Egg, finding #9002 which is in their catalog on page 29. Bend it in half, apply Dazzle-tac glue to both insides and press together sandwiching the eggshell between.

5. Once the glue is dry, paint the back with a metallic emerald green color. At this point, I like to apply resin Envirotex-lite to the shell. The back of the necklace should get enough of the resin to fill-up the shell while the front should get a very thin coat of resin. The back should be done first and you need to wait 24-48 hours for it to cure.

6. Next, you begin the fun part, the decorating. Apply glue (Gem-tac or Dazzle-tac) to the edge of the eggshell, press the 1mm bead chain, creating a kind of a cage for the eggshell. If the shell is thick you might want to apply two rows of the chain and you should do that at the same time.

7. While the glue is drying, prepare the chains that you will dangle and drape on your necklace. The dangling chains should be all different lengths, the longest being preferably no longer than 2” and shortest about an inch long. The draping chains are the ones that hang from the left side and end on the right side of the egg. The length of those is determined by your preference and how wide the shell is. Needless to say, they should drape gently and the top one should be the shortest. You can have a set of three or a set of four chains. In other words, three that will hang and three that will drape.

Put a drop of Dazzle-tac glue on the left side of the shell and press the three hanging chains into it. Now, take the draping chains and glue them longest first and shortest last. Apply a drop of glue to the right side of the shell and press the shortest draping chain first, and the longest, last.

8. To cover the edges of chains, glue the mat jet crystal on the left side and outline it with the bead chain. You will need to do more than one line of chain to outline it properly.

9. On the opposite side, you will put the bezel finding and the 16 SS crystal AB on top of the draping chains.

10. On the leaf shape where the chain is hung from, you will apply the Dazzle-tac glue and place the 7 SS crystal AB stones in the following pattern: Beginning at the bottom of the leaf, do 1 crystal, above it 2 crystals, than 3, 3, 2, 1.

Chain lengths can be 24” or 30”. Whichever you prefer. Refer to the picture for the finished product.

Thank you for choosing this project! Enjoy!!!
