Goose Egg Handbag Ornament
By Victoria Lane

Contents of the kit:

Goose egg cut and hinged
Peacock feathers
Crystal chain
Handle
Loose crystals
Half circles
Hinge covers
Stand
Completed sample of a feather

You will need:

Crafters Goop glue for all the findings and crystals. You will also need Gem-tac glue for the feathers, scissors and tweezers.

Instructions:

1. Begin by attaching the hinge covers first.

2. Next step is to apply the crystal chain around the opening. Measure the length of crystal chain you will need for the lid part (from one side of the hinge all the way to the other side of the hinge) and cut it. Squeeze a thin line of Crafters Goop on the lid, along the opening making sure you do not have any glue on the very edge, and press the crystal chain into it. If you have too much glue and it’s leaking out from under the chain, don’t panic. Run a toothpick or your tweezers along the edge of the chain wherever you see too much glue. Wait for a couple of minutes and just peel off the glue excess. Make sure your chain is straight and even. By the time you finish removing the glue, it will be dry enough to proceed.

3. Measure the chain for the bottom part. Close the egg and apply a line of glue close to the top chain but avoid touching it with glue. Press the chain into the glue and push it lightly against the top chain. This will insure that no space will remain between the two halves.

4. Attach the stand by putting the glue on the inside of it and than turn it upside down and let it cure in that position. This glue is wonderful for this. It settles down and contours itself against the egg and the stand. Just be sure that the stand is centered correctly. It will take about two hours for the glue to cure enough for you to handle the egg. You might want to wait even longer.

5. Once the stand is secure, continue the job by attaching the handle. Put a generous amount of glue and press into position. Remove any excess that leaks out.

6. Next are the feathers. You might want to prepare feathers ahead of time by decorating them and making them ready for the egg. On the half circle, apply a line of Gem-tac glue and place it on the feather as pictured. Put two droplets of glue inside the half circle and place the crystals on them. Once the glue dries, cut the excess of the feather off.
Do the lid first. Apply Gem-tac glue lightly to the egg itself. Spread the glue and gently lay the feather into position. If the feather is smaller that the area with glue, gently wipe away the excess with a moist paper towel. For the bottom of the egg, you need to start gluing feathers from the bottom up. Pick the largest feather for the bottom and graduate to smaller as you reach the top. After you place the feather on top of the glue, do not press hard since the glue will come right through the feather. If any feathers are misplaced, use a pick of some kind to adjust them and push them back into position.

7. Outline each feather with a crystal chain. Begin applying the half circles in front of the egg first. Holding the half circle upside down with your tweezers, apply a small amount of glue to it.

Press the half circle into position. Depending on the size of your egg you should be able to do about three half circles on each section of the egg. There are two sections on the front and two sections on the back. There will be extra crystals, just in case.

8. Glue the topper into place. Glue the chain around the egg on the edge of the stand.

9. Finish by applying crystal flatbacks to the stand.

10. The inside of the egg can be lined with fabric, painted or glittered. The choice is yours.

Thank you for choosing this project! Enjoy!!!
